This site uses latest version of Forums module, AFAIK without modifications.

Do I need to disable avatars in the main forum in favour of the main site profile picture? If so, how do I get the forum to use that profile pic as an avatar? I'm very interested in keeping all user profile information in one place rather than making them look in Forum/My Settings and Site Profile.

Hi Sebastian. I've had more of a look around, and on this DNN forum, 'My Settings' takes you to the main site profile. And the Avatar comes from the main site profile too. This seems so much more sensible to me than having 2 split user profile areas. I'd like to do this myself, but cant see how. Please tell me I can replicate what the DNN forum does.

Thanks

Are you planning to integrate a PM button in a near future?
I am very disapointed about that.
I will stick with the previous version.
Do someone know if YAF integrate with DNN profiles en security?

AFAIK it is the intention to integrate forums with DNN profile, like ActiveForums and ActiveSocial do. Susie, I haven't checked out, whether this is possible in Forums 5.0 without code modifications, neither did I check out the XAF forums module yet, Stephan - maybe you should put your question on the discussions page of the codeplex project.

To clarify what Sebastian pointed out a bit:
  • I removed PM from the module to avoid code duplication. I feel that time spent on my own PM system would be better spent on the core messaging. That said, I am investigating how I can add a "PM" button to posts in the future.
  • The forum is integrated 100% with profile properties and their visibility settings (of the core). However, there is nothing that allows a site admin (or forum admin) to determine what profile properties to show in the forum (which is something I can/should add in a future release). This is done for a centralized point of profile administration for users.

After having upgraded from DNN 4.9.0 to 5.6.2 and upgraded the forums to latest, I've added the Messaging Module back to a page on our site titled "Private Messages". I don't see the module showing when in View or Edit mode. When in Layout Mode I can see the container, but there is no module content. I don't see any Messaging settings.

If this new core messaging module usable at all? I can't seem to get it to show or work.

Best Regards, Dave VanderWekke
