Hi guys,

First of all, thanks a bunch for this great module.

Ok here is the thing; my host settings should be fine as I get emails when a new user registers and password request emails are working fine as well.

But on forums, I don’t get any kind of notification at all.

Forum Administration > General Settings > Email Notification is checked

My mail server is not in the same server as the site and needs authentication but I’m unable to find a place to put those information under Forum Administration.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for the great module.

There is no option to use anything but the Host Settings for SMTP. If enabled, the only problem could be a poor from address or allowing the mail to come from each poster.

What do you mean by "a poor from address"? I also am not getting the email notifications from the Forum modules though I do get them from the feedback module and others.

Here are my settings:

Email Notification? checked
Show Sender Address? Not checked
Email format: Html
Email Template: DNNSilver
Automated Address: a valid email address

I'm not getting the moderator email or the notification email. Any thoughts?

Otherwise I've been very pleased with the module. Great Job!

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Well as I mentioned, Host Settings for SMTP are fine and it’s working for user registrations and password reminders without any problems; it’s just the forum notifications I’m having trouble with.

I guess I’ll play around with it more and also will try on a test box where I have mail server on the same box and also will try without using a mail server, which is capable of sending mails without having to authenticate.

I think the authentication is the issue here but I might be wrong.

Let me know if any of you had or have any problems mail server with authentication switched on.

If I managed to fix this myself, I’ll post the way I managed to solve as well.

Thanks again for replying.

Never mind my previous post ... just verify you don't get an email when you (yourself) make a post? I logged in as a different user and the email notification came in just fine.

Thanks again.
