I've researched this issue on the forum and found some possibilities, but don't see an answer, so I am posting here.

The issue is I cannot embed flash into a forum message.  I originally used the "Insert/Edit Flash" button, but that does not work.  I followed the previous advice and went to "Source" button and put it in there.  I even previewed it and works great.  When I Submit, it literally strips the embed code out of the message.

Here is the code for a particular message:

<embed src="/Portals/5/Forums/Software/MSOffice/AddressBookUsingLDAP.swf" width="900" height="700" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" play="false" loop="false" menu="true"></embed></span></p>

This line is consistently stripped anyway I try to sneak it in there.  No error, no nothing I can find.

Please help.

Looks like a issue with the fck editor. Not sure, I have to done more testing.

Found a possible answer after researching the forums a few more times.  It appears it's related to the security in the core of DNN.  It won't allow the embed natively.  Seems I wasn't the only one (i.e, YouTubeVideo).  My question is if this is indeed a problem, why have the flash embed feature out there?  Until the DNN core security issue is "resolved", this should be grayed, IMHO.

Nevertheless, I did get it to work with not putting the close in the embed code (i.e., </embed>).  This worked!  Fairly crazy.

Appreciate it you looking into it, as not having the ability to embed video's in a collaboration tool is pretty nuts.

I agree.  There should be a dummy proof way to add this embed code to the post.  Eventually I plan to simplify the the editor to get rid of "Source" for mortal users.  I noticed trying your method that I can make the video work by stripping the closing embed and object tags, then clicking submit.  If you go in again to edit, the tags are put back automatically and when you repost the video gets stripped so you need to remember to go into source each time to strip those two tags.  This is BROKEN!  Where does this bug lie so we can file the bug report?

Also need the feature added to FCKeditor to give a simple interface to add the embed code.

I have done some testing with it and found out it is not related to the fck editor.  It is a Forum issue.  I would open a new issue to the gemini.
