I just did a clean 5.1.1 install on localhost and tested with four of my own modules plus the beta release of the DNN Gallery module. All make extensive use of localization by use of the ResourceKey attribute on controls, the DNN Label control, and Localization.GetString pulling localized values from both local resource files and from the modules' SharedResources.resx.

All localizations were present as expected both with Show Missing Keys set to true and false in web.config.

Let's see if we can find what's different about our installs. Here's mine:

  1. Windows Vista Business (IIS 7) with application using DefaultAppPool.
  2. Manually created up new database in SQL 2005 Express.
  3. Only modification to web.config was to set up both connection strings and to specify objectQualifier as DNN
  4. Clean install of 5.1.1 Install package on localhost.
  5. Default language (English, US). No other language packs installed.

I'm the one Scott is talking about, and I'm of course sad about that I trusted Bill Walkers recommendation about upgrading to 5.1.1. and now sitting back without our Real Estate site.

I understood that the upgrading was tested and tested, so how can this happend, and when can we expect to get this issue solved, so our bussiness can come up running again.

We have many 4.9.4 sites running, and I will for sure keep them as it, because here we don't have problems.

If anybody can tell me how we can (if possible) downgrade to 4.9.4, I will di this immediately and forget everything about 5.1.1.

Best Regards,

Per

Allan,

is there a reason not to use integrated (pipeline) mode, which provides improved performance?

Angel,

if an upgrade fails, please restore latest backup of database and files.

Everybody including Bill recommends backing up first so you can restore.
I also recommend testing your upgrade first.

4.x users should upgrade to 5 at some stage this year, even if it is for security reasons, DNN 4.9.5 should be the end of the line for 4.x - so you can hold out for a little longer if you so wish.

Can somebody please log this in Gemini so it can get fixed (rather than cross fingers )?

Hope this helps...
