Hello,

I was trying some simple translation like the bread crumb text "You are here:" I am logged in as admin and managed to translate the breadcrumb text fo the arabic language and creates the resource file "index 1024.ascx.ar-EG.Portal-0.resx" All is fine when I logout I can see the arabic translated text, however, when I login again as admin the translated text still appears in English. So i'm kinda confused what's going on or what have I done wrong. Why does it pick the arabic resx file when logged out but not when logged in? Please help

Thanks,
Wasim

does the admin has Arab selected as preferred language in his user profile?

No the admin's preferred language was Not Specified which I guess defaults to English. I have created a new account for Translator and set his preferred language to Arabic and now I can see the translated breadcrumb.

Thanks. I never knew I had to set the preferred language in profile :)

We have I think three different parameters that can regulate the current language applied to a user, on a standard dnn host:
  • language parameters in url (e.g. language=en-US querystring param)
  • browser language detection
  • user profile language settings.

But what's the order for choosing the actual language?
I assume:
  1. browser (if no url param or user setting is given, browser language detection rules)
  2. user profile  (if a language is specified in user profile, it is used in place of browser language)
  3. url (if language param is given in url, this overwrites both browser and user profile settings).
Is this correct?
