As far as I know, the default language for my portal and my site are both en-US. I may have changed that some time in the past (I remember playing around with an en-AU template for a bit) but not with the current portal.

Perhaps I am not looking in the right place. Where would I verify the default languages for localization purposes?

you specify Default language on 2nd tab of admin /languages module. Problem: you cannot switch, after you enabled content localization for this site.
I just had issues with a client site, which was installed with default language other than en-US, and broke when enabling en-US, due to missing localization records.
Running stored procedure "EnsureLocalizationExists" for the site and English language fixed the issue.

My site and system default languages are both set to en-US, and the EnsureLocalizationExists SP doesn't do anything.

I'll take a look at the pending changes to localization in the newer versions of DNN (if I can remember how to do that) and see if they may affect this.

In the meantime, it looks like manually setting a language for the tab and related tabmodules prior to creating localization on a page works the way I need it to.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this relates to the same issue, but I encountered a similar problem.

I'm running DNN 7.4.0 which is set as using en-us as the default language. When I enable Content Localization (using Dutch and German as additional languages), I checked the box to make pages translatable. DNN ran the conversion process and under the Languages tab, DNN reports that both those languages have 100% of the pages converted.

However, about 8 pages didn't get localized (Dutch nor German) copies made (interestingly they are all 2nd level menu items under the same root level menu). When I try to view the Page Settings of those original pages, I get the following error message below.

Any ideas on what happened/how to fix this?

Thanks!

there are a number of known issues with DNN 7.4.0 regarding localization, I strongly suggest not to use this version.
A number of issues have been fixed in DNN 7.4.1, there are a couple more, which will be included in DNN 7.4.2
