Hi,
After the issues I previously had with CL on 7.4.0, I launched my site as English only. I was hoping that subsequent DNN updates would resolve the problems I was having before trying CL again.
My original site was built on a clean install of 7.4.0. I upgraded to 7.4.1 then to 7.4.2. I once again followed the steps in this article -
http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-... - to setup CL and activated a couple language (Dutch and German).
When I enable CL in Admin/Languages, I was prompted to "make all pages translatable", DNN started converting my existing 22 pages, but crashed half-way through Dutch. Supposedly 11/22 pages have been converted to Dutch, but none to German.
Looking at the site now, Localization is a mess. 3 flags appear for each language, but not on all pages. If you select the Dutch flag and click on a page that has supposedly been converted (with "nl-nl" in the URL), I'm actually returned back to the default language version of the page (en-us). Clearly the CL conversion has failed miserably.
Per Sebastian's last post, I guess the next option is installing a clean version of 7.4.2, immediately turning on Content Localization, then disappointingly rebuilding my site page by page.
Because this will be quite time-consuming, I'm just wondering if anyone else has come up with a "best practice" scenario for building a CL site with multiple languages? In particular, I'm wondering if:
1) Starting with a clean installation, then turning on CL before adding any pages definitely works?
2) I know I have to start with Dutch and German, but I suspect I'll more languages later. Has anyone successfully added another language (and translated pages) to a site that was already running CL without issues?
I had a dual language site in DNN 5.x and it worked fine, so I'm presuming this must work fine in Version 7. I just hoping someone knows the right way to do this.
Many thanks,
Chris
