All,

Please forgive the long post, i feel maximum background information will help you guys to assit me.

I am new to DNN and have been tasked with rebuilding my clients entire Intranet. This is a massive task and they have chosen DNN to provide the site. I have installed the software successfully and have begun to play around with it in order to configure the site. I desperatley need to setup AD Auto Authentication so that when authenticated windows domain users come to the site, they are automatically logged in without any need to use the login form.

I sort of had this working with version 01.00.03 of the provider whereby users who came to the site had their name displayed next to a logout link and their details where stored in the SQL database. I noticed however, that when i went to the site, i was presented with the standard register and login options on the top left of the page. I assumed this was because i was using windows authentication in the site's IIS settings and impersonation in the web.config file so the Host settings have my account set as the ASP.NET Identity. is this the case? if so, how do i get around it?

I decided to upgrade as it was not working as expected and have installed and configured the 01.00.04 beta version of the provider from the forums. I configured this exactly as i had the previous version configured and now my users all get presented with the register and login options on the top left of the page and no details are stored in the SQL database. Can anyone please help me, i really need this to work as one of their requirements is to provide a level of personalisation without having windows authenticated users login.

My DNN setup is as follows:

Windows XP SP2

IIS 5.1

DNN 04.08.02

SQL Server 2005

Please help as this is slowing my progress with this project and will soon cause friction with my client.

Andy

Where you onsite or off site when this happened.? Did you ever set the Auto IP login ranges? Lastly, did you clear your cookies before hitting the site to see if that made a difference?

What happens if you try to login Manually under the Login->Windows Signin? Does it work? Let's verify that the provider is working and then go into the autologin portion.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Firstly, i don't understand what you mean by onsite? this setup is my development machine on my clients premises, so, i guess i was on site? I did set the Auto IP Login ranges to our IP range, and tried it with my IP with no joy.

I don't see a Login->Windows Signin option? i just get the standard register login links at the top left. When i click login i get the standard login form with a single login button and the usual reset and forgot your password links. What am i doing wrong?
