AFAIK the module has not been updated yet to work smoothly in DNN 6 and might interfere with new default skin.

Between being tied up with other work the past week and wanting to do some testing of Gallery v 4.4.0 in DNN 6 release install, I had not had a chance to answer your post before now.

I had tested Gallery 4.4.0 against DNN 6 Beta 1, Beta 2, and RC as each DNN 6 package was released. There was a problem with the Gallery folder structure not being properly created in DNN 6 Beta 1. I traced that issue down to a legacy core API method (FileSystemUtils.AddFolder) which had been incorrectly modified during the change of the core code from VB to C#. It was fixed in DNN 6 Beta 2.

Tonight I tested Gallery 4.4.0 (downloaded from CodePlex project site) in a DNN 6 Release test site without being able to replicate your issue. The Galley folder structure is being properly created under the portals home directory and I am able to add media and albums without any issues. It's various views actually look quite good in the new Dark Night skin.

After re-reading your post I wonder if the problem may be that Gallery does not use the module's action menu (Manage button in DNN 6) to perform any functions other than "Configuration". When logged in as a user with edit permission on the module, you need to hover over the picture icon (mountain and sun) located in the upper left corner of the module's main view. You should then be able to click on one of the following commands: "Edit This Album", "Add Files", "Add Album", and "Maintenance". This context menu and those menus displayed when hovering over a media thumbnail or child album cover will change its items appropriately depending on your user permissions and where you are in the Gallery. For example when hoveing over a child album you will find the command "Slide Show" will be included.

If the above tip does not solve your issue, please check the Admin --> Event Viewer for any related errors being logged, confirm that you have installed Gallery 4.4.0  in either DNN 6 Beta 2, DNN6 RC, or the DNN 6 Release (not Beta 1 or earlier), and advise what is being shown for the Root URL field in Gallery configuration. Also confirm that the ASP.Net worker process account (IIS identity account) has the necessary full permissions on the portal's home directory.
