Has anyone seen this error before? If so, what was your fix.

DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.SynchronizeFileSystem, DOTNETNUKE
File System Synchronization failed. System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FolderController.GetMappedDirectory(String VirtualDirectory) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalInfo.get_HomeDirectoryMapPath() at DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.SynchronizeFileSystem.Synchronize() at DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.SynchronizeFileSystem.DoWork()

Thanks,
Ron

try a manual recursive sync in file manager (for each portal and host), that should solve the issue.

Ok. I logged into each of my portals and check the Recursive checkbox then pressed the Synchronize Files button. I also did this under the Host menu last. I received no errors and everything appears to be ok. I then went to the Scheduler and enabled the SynchronizeFileSystem. This caused it to immediately run and it gave me the same error as before once I looked at the history. I then went and looked at the Portals view in the database and all of the portals have home directory’s that are valid. Not sure where the Null is coming from.

Thoughts??

I don't know either, this will need a debug. I suggest to disable sync Files service and enable sync on demand - disadvantage: this will not notice externally created directories.

Got a debugger system setup and found where the null exception was happening. The error is being thrown by the HttpContect.Current.Server.MapPath(). The passing variable is valid and correct. (VirtualDirectory) It appears the HttpContext is equal to nothing.

Thoughts??

Here is the code. This is in the FolderController.vb file.

Public Function GetMappedDirectory(ByVal VirtualDirectory As String) As String
Dim MappedDir As String = Convert.ToString(DataCache.GetCache("DirMap:" + VirtualDirectory))
If MappedDir = "" Then
MappedDir = FileSystemUtils.AddTrailingSlash(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(VirtualDirectory))
DataCache.SetCache(
"DirMap:" + VirtualDirectory, MappedDir)
End If
Return MappedDir
End Function
