I think we have to give DNN and Will a bit of credit here. Sure it's taking longer to release the code than we hoped for, but we get a great social system and forums module for free. That's something I'm willing to wait a bit longer for. Although I'm very eager to migrate to it ;-)

I don't believe DNN has got its priorities somewhere else than their community and old customers. I'm guessing the DNN developers are very busy with the 6.2.1 version. This needs to be released to solve problems 6.2 users are facing and is on the top of their list.

I'm still convinced that we can expect Active Forums 5 and the migration scripts soon after the 6.2.1 release.

I'm actually really excited about the Active Social functionality being part of the core now. The Journal can be an amazingly powerful feature for driving site activity and the more modules that integrate with it the better.

As a long time active social customer, I'm just finding the upgrade path to DNN 6.X very confusing.

It's good to sea that DNN 621 is out. This means that we should be getting our hands on the migration script soon.

Looking forward for that :)

Marc

JJK, you might not realize that "free" is not of importance to many of us who have already paid for these modules as Active Modules customers. Not only have we paid cash, we also spent a lot of time and energy helping to mature the product and then we got stuck with a product that basically ended development midstream after the DNN Corp merger with Active Modules.

Not only that, but many of us already paid 3rd party vendors to fund their integration with Active Social and now that everything has changed, we might have to do that all over again if we want to get some timely development done. Fortunately there are a few 3rd party providers ahead of the pack like Ventrian, digNuke, Data Springs and maybe a couple others. But even if I am able to upgrade to DNN 6.2.1 I still can't replace all the capabilities on my site because some modules haven't been integrated with the new DNN Social.

So hopefully after seeing our perspective, you can understand why we are pressing for information and help from DNN Corp. Some of us have production sites that are stuck, and some are stuck trying to determine if we should have gone live with Active Social or await DNN Social. Either way, many of us have already invested 5-figure money into our sites. So again, "free" doesn't help us.
