Hello,

I have a problem with downloading Office 2007 files from my DNN site. I can upload a file (docx, xlsx) using the file manager and all is good, however, when I click on the file (in the file manager module) to download it and choose the option to open it the file name gets appended (with xls, or doc) and Excel/Word fails to load the file. In firefox, the file appears in the downloads dialog with a double file extension (filename.xlsx.xls, filename.docx.doc).

I have attempted to use the Form and List module to allow users to upload files for display/download but the same problem exists. I suspect it is a problem with the LinkClick handler. I've had a search around but cannot find any info about uses having similar problems. It must be something to do with my install as I can't believe nobody else has come accross this issue.

The site is running on dnn version 06.02.05, my MIME types in iis all seem to be correct. Could anyone offer some advice as I'm a bit lost on this one?

I have noticed that some of the files are getting added to the "Files" database table with the incorrect "ContentType" field. Some of the .docx documents have beed added with the ContentType "application/msword" instead of "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document"

However, some Excel .xlsx documents have gone in with the correct ContentType but are still affected by the original problem...

This is a pretty fundamental problem, I can't belive nobody else has experienced it.

Has anyone had successful experiences uploading and downloading Office 2007 documents on a DNN install?

Hello Yehuda,

Thanks very much for the input. The iis MIME types is the first thing I checked and it looks like they are set up ok to me:

.doc - application/msword
.docx - application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
.xls - application/vnd.ms-excel
.xlsx - application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet
