Are you running ASP.Net 3.5 SP1? Did you clear your local browser cache (at least use "Shift-F5 to reload the page).

Cheers from Germany,

Compiler errors can occur if you are not running .Net 3.5 as Sebastian points out.  However, if you are sure you are running .Net 3.5 and still get the compiler error then it is likely because your web.config did not get auto-upgraded to .Net 3.5 during the upgrade to 5.5.  The way to test this is to look at the <system.codedom><compilers> section of web.config and compare it to the examples below.

ASP.NET 2.0
<system.codedom>
  <compilers>
    <compiler language="vb" type="Microsoft.VisualBasic.VBCodeProvider, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B77A5C561934E089" extension=".VB" />
  </compilers>
</system.codedom>

ASP.NET 3.5
<system.codedom>
  <compilers>
    <compiler language="vb;vbs;visualbasic;vbscript" type="Microsoft.VisualBasic.VBCodeProvider, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" extension=".vb" warningLevel="4">
      <providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5" />
      <providerOption name="OptionInfer" value="true" />
      <providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false" />
    </compiler>
    <compiler language="c#;cs;csharp" extension=".cs" type="Microsoft.CSharp.CSharpCodeProvider,System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" warningLevel="4">
      <providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5" />
      <providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false" />
    </compiler>
  </compilers>
</system.codedom>

DotNetNuke 5.2 and above requires the use of SQL 2005 and .Net 3.5 SP1 as indicated in my blog post last september.  We normally try to add a reminder on the release notes regarding this requirement but it looks like I forgot to do that on the 5.5 release.
