I'm in a shared hosting environment, and I get this:

"The server response was: 554 sorry, sender mail address must correspond to local mail domain"

I haven't found any options to change this in my mail server setup.

So, the Feedback Module is rendered useless, or am I missing something?

SUGGESTION:

The sender address is set to feedback@mydomain.com and reply-to is set to the e-mail of the person submitting the feedback.

Is there anyone who can tell me if it's possible to use the Feedback Module at all, if I use a mail server with this rule: "sender mail address must correspond to local mail domain"?

In Admin|Advanced Settings|Other Settings the Administrator account selected determines the email address.
In Host|Host Settings|Advanced Settings|SMTP server settings defines the mail server to use. You can also test email from there.

Thanks for responding Dwayne.

However, the problem is not that I can't get the module to work - actually it works like a charm... only my host has a rule on it's mail server that will only allow mails to go out if the sender's mail address is from my domain (to avoid spammers to abuse the servers, I guess).

That means that feedback from "outside people", with mail addresses that are not from my domain, gets dumped by the mail server.

Since people are not writing all over the place about this, I thought that I might have missed a setting somewhere (or am I really the only one with such a picky host?)

Did you try setting up SMTP properly and testing it? Some hosting providers require a login which authorizes you to send mail (vs. unauthenticated sending from a different domain). What are your smtp settings for your internet access from home or work?  Sometimes you can use those settings which will bypass your host entirely.

If you and your host cannot figure it out then you will have to find one that will meet your needs.
